Invitation to Serve on the Audit and Risk Committee of the Mining Qualifications Authority

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) operating under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). The MQA is mandated to drive skills development within the mining and minerals sector (MMS) in alignment with the National Skills Development Plan 2030. The MQA’s scope covers a diverse range of sub-sectors, including Coal Mining, Gold Mining, Platinum Group Metals (PGM) Mining, Diamond Mining, other mining commodities, Cement, Lime, Aggregates, and Sand, as well as services related to the mining industry, Diamond Processing, and Jewellery Manufacturing.

The MQA hereby invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced independent members wishing to serve on its Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) as required in terms of Section 51 of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Act No. 1 of 1999, (as amended by Act 29 of 1999), Section 3 of the Treasury Regulations issued in terms of the PFMA and Section (10) (1) of the MQA Constitution.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • A Matric certificate together with appropriate qualifications;
  • Minimum three-year degree in the field of Accounting, Auditing, Legal, Finance or Information Technology;
  • Experience in the field of Accounting, Auditing, Finance, Legal or Information Technology, Risk and Governance;
  • Appropriate experience and/or knowledge of the Public Service and Public Entities will be a strong recommendation;
  • Previous experience as a member of an Audit and Risk Committee in the public sector and/or public entity will be advantageous; and
  • Membership registration with a Professional Body such as IRBA, SAICA, SAIGA CIMA, ISACA, and LPC will be a strong recommendation.

 REMUNERATION

  • Audit and Risk Committee members will be remunerated at rates determined by the National Treasury.
  • Travelling on official duty will be reimbursed at rates determined by the MQA.

TERM OF OFFICE: The term of office for the committee will commence from 01 November 2025 to a period not less than (3) three years as determined by the MQA Accounting Authority.
