Call for Applications for MQA Discretionary Grants (2025 – 2026): 6th Window

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for the mining and minerals sector in terms of the Skills Development Act of 1998.

The 6th application window for Discretionary Grants allocations, for the period 01 April 2025 to 31 March 2026, will open on Monday 20 October 2025 at 08H00.

Applicants are invited to submit their applications for the following projects:

1. Learning Material Development:

Accredited Skills Development Providers within the mining and minerals sector in the following provinces: Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Northern Cape, KwaZulu Natal, and Free State are encouraged to apply.

2. Small Business Support:

This is a closed call targeting SMMEs only and not training providers applying on behalf of them.

MQA Funding Policy, Application Forms and Grants Rules:

Completed application forms must be submitted via e-mail ONLY to grants@mqa.org.za.

Hand-delivered application forms including those sent to other email addresses will not be accepted.

Please Note:

  • Terms and conditions will apply in accordance with the MQA Funding Policy and Allocation Criteria.
  • The Application form is only available on the MQA website.
  • MQA may call for application for projects, but it is at the MQA discretion to allocate the grants on these projects.
  • The application form must be completed in full. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the application form submitted is correct and completed in full.

Closing Date:

The window for applications will close on Monday 10 November 2025 at midnight.
