International Literacy Day 2023
The Mining Qualifications Authority and its partners will be hosting the International Literacy Day event during the month of September.
International Literacy Day is an annual event which is observed globally on 08 September. On this day, the importance of literacy amongst communities, societies and individuals is highlighted. In the mining and minerals sector, the Adult Education and Training (AET) programme is well recognised as playing an integral role in facilitating adult literacy.
For this reason, the ILD event presents the MQA and its partners with an opportunity to highlight the fundamental value of literacy, and to celebrate the accomplishments of learners who have successfully completed the AET learning programme. New entrants into the AET learning programme, as well as those undergoing their AET training, also bear witness to the successes of this adult literacy programme and are encouraged to persist with their education.
This year’s event will be hosted under the theme “Promoting innovative AET amidst a changing world“.
