Remuneration :  R400, 005.03 CTC (plus a possible 20% performance bonus)

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) that facilitates skills development under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and supports mine health and safety under the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) for the mining and minerals sector under Skills Development Act (SDA) 97 of 1998 and Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) 29 of 1996, respectively.

The MQA requires the services of a Senior Administrator: Finance to fill the above-mentioned position.

Role Purpose

The successful candidate will provide financial, administrative, and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial and administrative operations. 

The successful candidate will report to the Manager: Financial Administration. 

Key Performance Areas

  • Receive all relevant authorised documents (Purchase Orders, Invoices, and Contracts).
  • Assimilate deductions and garnishee orders from payroll.
  • Validate compliance of these documents with PFMA, Procurement Policy, delegation of authority and financial policies and procedures.
  • Prepare payment requisitions.
  • Obtain necessary authority for payment approval.
  • Capture invoice documentation on the accounting system and post relevant documentation to creditor’s ledger and general ledger.
  • Schedule a payment batch, interface to electronic Bank Funding System and obtain relevant signatories to release payment.
  • Post payment batch and print remittance advices and advise creditors of payment.
  • Complete payment numbers on requisitions and all required documentation.
  • Generate historically aged trial balance and review long outstanding payments.
  • Manage accruals and recurring creditors invoices.
  • Maintain a filing system for all financial documents.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial files.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Attend to and resolve all audit queries.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure effective and efficient office operations g., filing, retrieving, archiving, journals.
  • Train interns in all aspects of creditor administration.
  • Collaborate with other business units / teams to ensure a consistent approach with regards to query resolution and approach.
  • Ensure alignment of all work process to the required quality standards.
  • Perform other related duties as delegated by the supervisor and/or line manager.

Key Requirements: Qualifications, Experience and Competencies 

Qualifications

  • Minimum National Diploma in Finance or NQF Level 6 equivalent in a Finance field.
  • A Degree [NQF Level 7] in a Finance related field will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • A minimum of three years’ financial administration experience of which 2 years must have been spent as Administrator.
  • Experience in Financial Consulting and Auditing will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience in MS Office (MS Word, MS Projects, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Must have used an Accounting Software before and understand how the modules therein work.

Competencies: Knowledge Sound knowledge of Accounting Principles. Understanding of Great Plains Accounting Software will be an added advantage.Understanding of the PFMA, skills development legislations and relevant accounting standards will be an added advantage.
