The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) will be hosting the inaugural Mining Skills Lekgotla event on 23 and 24 November 2023 under the theme “Envisioning Mining Skills Beyond 2030”.
The format of the event will also integrate the MQA’s annual general meeting (the Annual Consultative Conference) where the organisation will formally table the 2022-2023 annual report on the organisation’s performance. Furthermore, the event discussions will include a host of acclaimed industry experts who will expand on various topics and the exchange ideas that will foster transformation for a sustainable mining and minerals sector based on the following topics:
- Highlights of the Importance of Skills Development Ecosystem
- Technology (4IR) and How it Supports the Advancement of the MMS
- Research Interventions in the MMS
- Small-Scale Mining and Beneficiation Interventions
- Mine Community and Youth Development: Distribution in Line with the District Development Model
- Jewellery Manufacturing in the MMS
