Stipend: R 8 713.50 p/m

Duration: 24 Month Contract

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) that facilitates skills development training in terms of the Skills Development Act 97 of 1998, under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).

The MQA also supports mine health and safety for the mining and minerals sector in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996, under the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE).

Applications are invited from applicants who either require experiential learning to complete their qualification, or have completed their qualification no longer than five (5) years ago. Applicants must also be South African citizens.

The successful intern will be appointed for a period of twenty-four (24) months and will receive a monthly stipend.

The Internship Programme will cover but may not be limited to the following:

  • Assist with administrative duties in relation to projects administered in the Strategic Project Unit;
  • Register learning programmes agreements for all projects;;
  • Provide customer service to internal and external stakeholders in accordance with the MQA’s customer service standards;
  • Liaise and maintain relationships with various MQA stakeholders;
  • Organise events including meetings and workshops for the Learning Programmes Unit;
  • Assist with travel arrangement for the Learning Programmes Unit;
  • Assist with filing and document control; and
  • Provide administrative support to the Strategic Projects Unit as and when needed, and perform any other tasks delegated by the Learning Programmes Manager or Specialist.

Required Competencies

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • An understanding of skills developments legislation in respect of education and training;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • A proactive attitude;
  • Customer orientated;
  • Attention to details; and
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages.

Qualifications

  • National Diploma, B Tech or degree in Human Resources Management/Development, Business Management, Business Administration, Public Administration/ Management, or Project Management.

The successful candidate will be required to enter into a learning agreement.
