The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for the mining and minerals sector in terms of the Skills Development Act of 1998.
The 5th application window for Discretionary Grants allocations, for the period 01 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, will open on 05 December 2024. Employers and other stakeholders in the sector are invited to submit their applications for the following projects:
- Short Courses Learning Programmes
- 4IR Learnerships

Completed application forms must be submitted via e-mail ONLY to grants@mqa.org.za.
Hand-delivered application forms including those sent to other email addresses will not be considered.
Please note:
- Terms and conditions will apply in accordance with the MQA Funding Policy and Allocation Criteria.
- Application forms will only be available on the MQA website.
- The MQA may call for application for projects, but it is at MQA discretion to allocate the grants on these
- The application form must be completed in full.

Closing date: The window for applications will open on 05 December 2024 and will close on 28 February 2025 or before, once the target is reached.
Applications will be assessed on a first-come, first-served basis and preference will be given to mining companies.
