Application Are Now Open for Bursary Funding by TVET Colleges for the 2026 Academic Year

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for the Mining and Minerals Sector in terms of the Skills Development Act No. 97 of 1998.

The MQA is inviting all public TVET Colleges to apply for bursary funding for the 2026 academic year for financially needy and deserving students.

The objective of this funding window is to invite public TVET Colleges to apply for bursary funding for financially needy students who will be studying at the TVET College in the 2026 academic year towards programmes that are aligned to the MQA Sector Skills Plan.

The following study programmes will be funded:

  • Boilermaker
  • Motor Mechanic
  • Electrician
  • Fitter and Turner
  • Fitting (including Machinery)
  • Instrumentation Mechanic
  • Millwright
  • Rigger Ropes Man

Please Note: The MQA may consider up to 20% of the bursary funding request received from a TVET College for other programmes not listed above.

CLOSING DATE

The application window will open from 10 October 2025 and close on 31 October 2025.

The bursary funding will be administered and regulated through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the MQA and the TVET institution.
