Duration: 4 Months Contract

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) that facilitates skills development training in terms of the Skills Development Act 97 of 1998, under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).

The MQA also supports mine health and safety for the mining and minerals sector in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act 29 of 1996, under the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE).

The MQA requires the services of a Projects Administrator on a contractual basis in Parktown.

Key Responsibilities for the Projects Administrator

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Processing and verification of bursary applications forms received from new applicants.
  • Processing and verification of application forms for the continuing of bursars.
  • Contracting of new and continuing bursars at the beginning of the academic year.
  • Processing and timeous submission of all payments for tuition fees and allowances to Finance for payment.
  • Reconciliation of payments for all bursars after semester/trimester payments had been made.
  • Determine the completion status of all bursars for reporting purposes.
  • Engaging with Officials at assigned universities and TVET Colleges for proof of registrations, fee statements and academic records.
  • Any other task delegated by the Bursary Manager and/or the Senior Learning Programmes Manager: Strategic Projects.

Key Requirements: Qualifications, Experience and Competencies 

Qualifications

  • Minimum National Diploma [NQF Level 6] in Business Administration/Office Administration or Human Resources Development.
  • A Degree [NQF Level 7] in the above-mentioned field will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in administration; within a training/learning environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of document management systems.
  • Experience in working on any Management Information System with training/learning environment.
  • Knowledge of administration and management processes.
  • Sound working knowledge and experience of the SETA environment would be an advantage; and
  • Knowledge of the mining and mineral sector will be an added advantage.
