Call for Applications for MQA Discretionary Grants (2021 – 2022): Fifth Window

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for the mining and minerals sector in terms of the Skills Development Act of 1998.The fifth application window for the MQA Discretionary Grants, for the period 01 April 2021 to 31 March 2022, will open on Monday 29 November 2021 at 08H00. Stakeholders, TVET Colleges, trade unions and federations in the mining and minerals sector are invited to submit their applications for the following projects:

Placement of TVET College Learners In Workplaces
  • Public registered TVET Colleges with adequate and appropriate infrastructure, as well as human resources which will enable implementation of the project.
  • Public registered TVET Colleges who have valid and signed SLAs with organisations or workplaces with adequate and appropriate infrastrucure, as well as human resources for the hosting of learners for Work Integrated Learning.
TVET College learners who require a workplace exposure programme to graduate from TVET Colleges in and outside of the mining and mineral sector.
Unemployed Youth Development Programme
  • MQA-registered and non MQA-registered organisations.
  • Training providers.
  • TVET and CET Colleges.
Unemployed youth from mining communities and labour sending areas.
Worker Initiated Training
  • Trade unions and federations in the mining and minerals sector.
Workers and worker leaders (officials) from the mining and minerals sector unions.
Application forms and grants rules/guidelines: Completed application forms must be submitted via e-mail to date: Completed application forms must be submitted before 00:00 on Monday 20 December 2021.NB: The MQA will evaluate applications on a first come first serve principle and will reserve the right to limit allocations or to not allocate/evaluate any applications once the targeted number of applications has been reached.Hand delivered application forms including those sent to other email addresses will not be accepted.Please note:
  • Terms and conditions will apply in accordance with the MQA Funding Policy.
  • Due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, application forms will only be available on the MQA website.
  • The application form must be completed in full and duly signed. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the application form submitted is correct and completed in full.
