Call for Applications for MQA Discretionary Grants (2025-2026): First Window

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority for the mining and minerals sector in terms of the Skills Development Act of 1998.

The first application window for Discretionary Grants allocations, for the period 01 April 2025 to 31 March 2026, will open on Monday 21 October 2024 at 08H00. Employers and other stakeholders in the sector are invited to submit their applications for the following projects:

  1. Adult Education and Training
  2. Artisan Aides Programme
  3. Artisan Development Programme
  4. Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning (ARPL) and Non-Artisan Learnerships Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
  5. Candidacy Programme
  6. Elementary Digital Skills
  7. Foundational Learning Competence (FLC)
  8. Internships Programme (including Artisan Internship)
  9. Higher Education Institutions Lecturer Support
  10. Internships for Learners to Be Placed at Universities and Universities of Technology
  11. Management Development Programme
  12. Multi-year Agreement/Partnership with Employers and Other Organisations for Placement of MQA Bursars in Internships and Work Experience Programmes
  13. Learning Material Development
  14. Non-Artisan Learnerships (Core)
  15. Non-Artisan Learnerships (Beneficiation)

Closing date

Completed application forms must be submitted before 00:00 on Friday, 29 November 2024. 

Submission of completed forms

Completed application forms must be submitted via e-mail ONLY to grants@mqa.org.za.

Hand-delivered application forms including those sent to other email addresses will not be accepted.

Please note

  • Terms and conditions will apply in accordance with the MQA Funding Policy and Allocation Criteria.
  • Application forms will only be available on the MQA website.
  • The MQA may call for application for projects, but it is at MQA’s discretion to allocate the grants on these
  • The application form must be completed in full. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the submitted application form is correct and has been completed in full.
