Vacancy: Skills Development Administrator (Temp)

Fixed-term Contract until 31 January 2020

Total monthly salary: R19, 171.55 

The Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for the mining and minerals sector in terms of the Skills Development Act of 1998.

The MQA seeks an individual to fill the above-mentioned vacancy for a candidate that will perform administrative duties for various projects within the Skills Development and Research Unit.

The responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following duties:

Key performance areas:

  • Provide administrative support in relation to Workplace Skills Plans and Annual Training Reports (Mandatory Grants); 
  • Analyse the reported PIVOTAL programmes;
  • Provide support with the annual update of the Organising Framework for Occupations;
  • Undertake an organisation’s database clean-up exercise;
  • Communicate with Skills Development Facilitators, provide support and assistance with their registration;
  • Assist organisations to register with the MQA;
  • Administer the Inter-SETA transfer process;
  • Monitor and report on the achievement of the relevant National Skills Development Strategy and Sector Skills Plan targets;
  • Organise events including meetings and workshops;
  • Assist with the Implementation of skills development projects;
  • Liaise with MQA stakeholders;
  • Arrange travel bookings for the Unit and for external stakeholders as and when required;
  • Manage the Unit diary including that of the SDR Manager
  • Assist with information management (filing and document control); and
  • Perform any other tasks that may be delegated.

Qualifications and experience:

  • A Senior certificate as well as a National Diploma in Human Resource Development, Human Resource Management or equivalent; and
  • Three (3) years’ of experience in a similar position.


  • Understanding of legislation applicable to Skills Development, preferably within the context of the mining and minerals sector;
  • Technical knowledge of management information systems (MIS).
  • Report writing skills; and
  • Understanding of skills planning and reporting;
